Cloud servers chosen around your application

A cloud environment should be selected around resource and operating requirements. Current capacity, expected growth and management costs are assessed before choosing a plan.

What needs assessing?

CPU, memory, storage, the way capacity can change, application dependencies, and backup and recovery needs. A product label alone does not define scaling behaviour or service coverage.

The available environment, location, limits and charging for changes are confirmed before ordering. The invoice states the total and any applicable taxes or charges before payment.

Changing resources

The available capacity changes, procedure, costs and possible restart requirements are checked for the environment being used. Automatic scaling, load balancing and instant snapshots are not assumed from the cloud label; required features are specified in the quotation.

Management and backups

The highest plan includes management whose services, frequency and response expectations are defined in the agreement. Management can also be arranged for the other plans. Backups, retention and restore testing are explicitly defined within the service scope.

Common questions

Is cloud the best choice for every application?

The decision depends on requirements, capacity-change options and total cost. A VPS or shared hosting may be appropriate; alternatives are reviewed before choosing.

Does the price include application development?

The table covers the operating environment. New application features or code repairs are separately agreed development work.
